About the Breed
One of the largest breeds of rabbit, at maturity they weigh between 15 and 20 pounds. They are also one of the oldest breeds, originating as a meat and fur rabbit as early as the 16th century in Flanders. They are one of the calmest and gentlest breeds making them perfect companion animals! They love to be pet (especially on the forehead). They are easy to train tricks like stand up for a treat, walk on a leash and harness, or use a litter box and live in the house! They do make the perfect friend for children, but because they are so big and heavy care must be taken to properly support them when lifting so they don't injure their backs. They often get along better than other breeds with dogs and cats because they are so big and calm, they are not seen so much as a prey animal; however lots of care and patience is needed for safe introductions. Flemish are very playful and enjoy chew toys and balls as well as the company of others, human or animal. Taking Flemish to rabbit shows will surely get you lots of attention from other hobbiests! After spending just a little time around them you will see why we love this amazing breed of rabbit!
Flemish Giant Colors
Flemish come in seven varieties recognized by the ARBA, in the following color lines, which can't cross per the breed standard:
~Light Grey and White (out of grey):we have been breeding this color line since 2015.

~Blue and Black (out of blue): we have bred this color line since 2020.

~Steel Grey and Black (out of grey): We had these beauties but steel was recessive in our line, hope to have them again in the future.
~Sandy, Fawn, and White (out of sandy/fawn): this is the most popular color line, and we don't breed these beauties here.
